The canton of Obwalden has an excellent range of schools for primary and secondary education. Alongside the elementary schools in each town, the Cantonal high school in Sarnen, the seminary school in Engelberg (Stiftsschule) and the Swiss sport high school (Sportmittelschule) in Engelberg give Obwalden access to all the important higher education colleges and universities in Switzerland.
